Inside the Mind of Casey Jerez

Creative Non-Fiction...

As I stated in my "About Me" section, I learned from an early age that writing is a great way to creatively express my everyday thoughts, no matter how random they may be. Most of this work comes from my personal blog. I enjoy composing my thoughts in a way that is creative and (hopefully) humerous.

Restaurants

Picture
I wrote this blog post after a particularly hilarious restaurant trip. Having served a long "sentence" as a server for my first three years of college, I was inspired to write a short "etiquette guide" for restaurant customers. Read on if you want to learn a few tips on how to be the perfect customer!

Vegans

Picture
I was inspired to write this post on my blog after writing a vegan and vegetarian friendly Thanksgiving guide for The Yeti. I'm a huge foodie, and nothing is off-limits for me, so imagining an animal-product-free holiday seemed crazy to me. What I was most bothered by, though, is the way that many vegans try to push their dietary preferences onto others. I voiced my feelings about the matter in this piece.

What's Eating You?

Picture
This piece was a little closer to my heart and a little more serious than others. Because I have known people with eating disorders, I was slightly bothered by E!'s new show, "What's Eating You?". Although they do feature people with serious eating disorders, they also chose participants who seemed to just be begging for attention. Eating disorders are serious diseases, and the thought of them being trivialized bothered me immensely. I chose to vent my feelings via blog.
